When the protagonist’s plan is to incite everyone to slaughter each other in droves in order to revert things to “the old ways”, it makes you wonder, what his creator’s idea of world politics must look like. Garth is forced to kill Varena with a Psionic Blast after she makes it clear her honor as a fighter-wizard demands that she follow the rules of their match. Even if you’ve never played the game, Arena is an exciting book, with plenty of action when required, enough dialogue to keep you interested but never boredand a cast of characters that you likely won’t forget.

Surprisingly this book held up pretty well and didn’t disappoint the nostalgic memories I had. Forstchen born is an American author who began publishing in with the novel Ice Prophet. I found this in my parents attic the other day, and I read the reviews here so I decided to read it.

The two of them meet with Hammen once again to let him know they are alive, then retire to the countryside to raise their child, whom they plan to name after him. I really enjoyed this book.
