lncendiary I think all we can do, as you say, is to try to act well in our own lives and hope that our higher-ups will be influenced by our collective example. This life is a deafening roar but listen. Chris, you do such an uncanny job in Incendiary of creating incenndiary unique female voice who vividly and passionately reveals the suffering, guilt, and trauma experienced by loved ones of those killed by terrorits acts.

Then for Sarah to welcome her, share the joy and love of Charlie, to offer safe harbor…those things made a difference in the life of Little Bee. To Nush, Shona and Dean — thank you all for your very worthwhile comments, and thank you all for reading the book.

Thanks for the beautiful prose Please keep writing. The characters in this book have more of their story to tell.

It is unusual for me to see a film version of a book before actually reading the book, but I am confidant that the book will move me even more so.

Besides for the story feeling incredibly fake, I also had a problem with the story’s structure.

Incendiary by Chris Cleave

Could you explain me the purpose of using them. Incendiary has been hiding on my bookshelf for ages and I just picked it up the other chtis. It’s chrs word peculiar to my family, although I can’t remember where it came from or which of my kids coined it.

Where is the line between civil liberties and security? He is does an excellent job at giving each character a unique voice and it really makes me buy into the world of the story, even when it hinges on ridiculous.

Reality bites

I so look forward to reading your other books. If I was Muslim, that kind of bias would drive me nuts, and I can only sympathise with your frustration and thank you for taking the time to read my work and to comment on it in this forum. Which fictional character would you most like to have ihcendiary This has to be one of my all time favourite novels.

It’s in details such as these that Cleave seems to get the ratio between prophecy and satire satisfyingly correct. The charachers here are so credible. Although she should have. I find the characters low lives and pigs although they are not worthy of being called animals.

I related to the heroine so much, as in her take on life, her humour, her courage and strength her compassion for others and how she dealt with their betrayal of her. Cleave’s ability to speak as a woman is extraordinary and makes even the male reader understand her reactions. The heroine is totally relatable despite experiencing an horrendous crisis which very few people would ordinarily be able to relate to or understand. Cleave has put his finger on a very real strain of the British character, but it’s not the only real strain, and there is reason to believe the dystopian London of distrust and fear he paints does not lurk beneath the surface after all.

Our fury at the terrorists is not always matched by our compassion for their surviving victims. I loved Incendiary so wise and funny and full of love. Love your work; keep writing.

In fact all the characters were brilliantly and economically portrayed. I would really love to read this but my copy seems to be a misprint… The paragraphs dont start where they are supposed to but instead they are in the middle od the page.
