The two escape together, and Seregil, motivated by something he does not entirely understand, takes Alec on as his apprentice in thieving, spying and trickery. The best and worst feature is that 3 story arcs make of this novel something of a never-ending story.

I also love the fact that this book hints at and even explicitly states that there are homosexual and bisexual characters within the plot, and as the book and series goes on I am This was my first time reading Lynn Flewelling’s books and I was quickly drawn into the story.
Most of the details were relayed through stories told from Seregil to Alec, which was a clever way to do it, and left no weird, awkward interruptions from the author. We’re featuring millions of their reader ratings on our book pages to help you find your new favourite book. It consistently had me at the edge of my seat, biting my nails with such vivid suspense. The humor and sly side-eye commentary on our own world are fun to read, and it’s a little bit sad this series is still able to break ground despite being 20 years old.

It is a pleasure to join him on his journey for he makes for wonderful entertainment. If you want to know the answers to the major questions you’re going to have to get the rest of the series. Give as a gift. It ended on a cliffhanger the 1st two books are linked I think so I’ll probably read the next one because I’m invested in the characters and I like the action scenes.
The pace is swift as the two men, plus assorted comrades and friends, move from one exciting situation to another.
Soon Alec is traveling roads he never knew existed, toward a war he never suspected was brewing. I’m not sure, maybe.

There is a certain unpredictability that keeps his actions fresh. Looking forward to reading more of this author in the future!

I didn’t get truly attached to the characters until book 2 which I’ve already finished as I am enjoying it so much but I really really liked them in this book and there were moments I felt for them. However, things take a turn for the worse when Alec and Seregil find themselves caught in a nefarious deception unraveling within the rulers of their land. Damen is a warrior hero to his people and the rightful heir to the throne of Akielos, but when his half brother seizes power, Damen is captured, stripped of his identity, and sent to serve the prince of an enemy nation as a pleasure slave.
Joel Abernathy Narrated by: I loved the unassuming, simple depiction of very complex relationships. Rambling about my affections for this book is only the tip of the iceberg; to fully comprehend the perfection of this series you must read it.
He is a sbadows of flewellling All in all though a fun romp and the kind of world where you look up and realize that you have been completely immersed for awhile. He’s also a weirdly conscience stricken anti–hero at times doing the “moral thing” usually when he’s called on something This is a really solid sword and sorcery style fantasy which plays on some troupes you probably already know and love but keeps a few tricks up its sleeve to really keep shavows reading.
Before long he and Seregil are embroiled in a sinister plot that runs deeper than either can imagine and that may cost them far more than their lives if they fail. Green but for a Season. It could’ve been much better. None of it tells you how well this book is luci. The relationship between the main characters is touching – and at times silly, cute, or even dramatic. And when he offers to take on Alec as his apprentice, things may never be the same for either of them.
